Our Story

It all began in 2003 when a group of devout Catholics in Beloit, Kansas (pop 3,500), recognized the need to secure the long-term financial stability of their community. Driven by a shared passion to ensure the Catholic faith would flourish for future generations, they embarked on a comprehensive study of Catholic foundations, endowments, and development strategies across the United States.

This diligent research laid the groundwork for the formal establishment of Cornerstone Charitable Foundation. In 2005, the organization was officially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, with adopted bylaws. The board, longtime dedicated parishioners, crafted a mission to operate solely and exclusively as a charitable, scientific, literary, and educational organization, serving the needs of the Catholic community and other mission-supportive entities.  

Notwithstanding the fits and spurts in near-term priorities, local and diocesan personnel changes, the instability of the rural fundraising climate and other challenges, Cornerstone Charitable Foundation has been able to capitalize on fundraising opportunities that present themselves over the long-term, yet remain focused on our never-changing, overarching goal: to provide current granting and create a long-term endowment to benefit St. John's Catholic School ($1.455MM budget) and parish ($1.650MM budget) in perpetuity. The school has been educating students continuously in the Catholic Faith since 1879, graduating seniors since 1926. 

We believe that Catholic education, properly incorporated, can have a transformative impact upon our youth. Creating a sustainable financial model that would guarantee the vitality of the Catholic faith in Beloit and beyond for the next century is imperative. 

The impact of Cornerstone on our local community stands as a testament to the faith, foresight, and perseverance of its founders. Their vision has created a lasting legacy, providing a robust financial framework that empowers Catholic organizations to thrive. CCF's model serves as an inspiration, offering a pathway for other communities to secure the future of their faith for generations to come.
